Life is so big yet small, we listen to the news and there seems to be a lot happening that we can’t influence yet have a massive effect on our lives and dreams but there things we can do to make today count towards our dreams
Life is life, and it’s filled with positives and negatives. It’s a shame that today’s media and news amplify the negative and remain quite on the positive.
The truth is life is neutral or blank and we fill it up daily with our choices, actions and inactions.
Yes, other people’s actions can affect you but you have a greater influence over your life and dreams that’s why it’s wise to focus on what you can control and influence making today count.
Here are 5 things you can do today and every day
This is the first step in my book to making today count
Scholars, spiritual leaders and scientist have deliberated and researched on gratitude over the years, many studies show that there is a big correlation between gratitude and wellbeing.
Practising gratitude does wonders to our minds and bodies which includes freeing us from the prison of toxic thoughts and emotions.
The practice of gratitude is also very important because it reminds you of past successes
But we are not naturally inclined to practice gratitude so we have to teach ourselves, make it a habit by setting up a system of practising gratitude daily for example sending texts to someone or having a gratitude journal that you update daily
I have been journaling things I’m grateful for about a year and it’s been amazing. Check out some things I am grateful for in 2020
This is massive because we naturally default and prefer the status quo but trying new things from eating a new food, travelling to a new place, learning a new skill or anything out of our comfort zone is great for us.
Don’t allow fear stop you from growing and getting to new heights that is within your reach only if you are just open to new ideas
Being open to new doesn’t have to be hard you just have to change your perspective
When was the last time you gave someone a gift of encouragement?
Have you had or do you have someone in your life who is a great encourager? How do you feel around that person?
Encouraging others is a very selfless act and actually comes from a grateful and loving heart.
Your words carry tremendous power and, in a world, where it looks cool to put others down, we must do the opposite.
I see encouragement as a gift meaning the recipient did nothing to get it for example telling your team member “I believe in you” is different from “well done”. One occurred before the job while the other happened after even though both are good one is more like a reward.
What are you doing to encourage others?
This is easier said than done especially if the other person isn’t doing anything good or with all the bad news in the media.
Practicing this idea of daily looking for the good and positive as we go through life or and expressing it in our communications both in person and on social media means we are reminding ourselves of the good that exists in others
The truth is there is good around you every moment of everyday even when bad things happen there can be good in it or from it
Looking for the good is a choice, it costs nothing and you can do it anytime, anywhere
We have dreams and goals and even if the events in the world seems like it’s fighting against us, we can decide to take action today towards our dream, goals and be a positive influence and trust me with time the fruits will manifest
Don’t procrastinate
Don’t regret why you didn’t take action yesterday but instead take action today
All we have mentioned today would just be another read for you if you don’t put systems in place to ensure you do them daily, that’s the action you should take after reading this piece.
